January is almost over.  Are your Christmas decorations down yet?  What about the lights outside?  Be honest!  And what do you do with the beautiful holiday cards that were lovingly sent to you?  Do you keep them in a memory book?  Toss?  Burn?  Make into origami?

Every year I struggle with this what-to-do-with-the-cards dilemma.  It's hard to stomach just tossing those snapshots of loved ones that you might only see once a year into the trash!  This year, I'm on a quest to find  something creative, and useful, to do with them.  Here are a couple of ideas I found:

1.  Make a collage of all your cards, place on an artist canvas, modge podge into place.  Decorate with ribbon, the word, "JOY", etc.  Super cute for your holiday decor next year!

2.  Cut each card into the same shape - triangle, star, circle - your choice.  Then make a wreath out of the shapes.

3.  Make gift tags out of them.  This is really cute if you cut them into a traditional tag sort of shape.

4.  This is super cute , make a little book out of them, you can either bind together with an actual binding, make a cover, you decide.  Then you can join your "books" together by attaching them with rings (like binder rings).  How fun to flip through them as the years go by.

5.  Make a photo card garland to lace your staircase or drape around your windows.

What ideas do you have?  Which of the above are you going to do?  Please share!  And Happy New Year from Card Couture!

Designing a Personalized Holiday Card is Easy with Card Couture

So here's how easy it is:  I say to Caroline, my design partner, "I see a little van tracing our road trip route.... with cute things that were said along the way there somewhere..... and oh! We got on a ship in Seattle. Can we do that??"

And look what she did (below)!  I'm telling you people, if you think it's too hard to design your own card - to truly make your Holiday greeting unique to you and your family, just give Card Couture a
try.  Design your own, have us help you, or choose from one of our already very cool designs.

"You are a Gift" is Born!

Well, it took me a little while.  And, if you ask my design partner, Caroline, it ALWAYS takes me a little while.  But, here is the first installment in my line of birthday cards:

What will be key now, is that if you are on my new birthday calendar, that I get one in the mail to you BEFORE your birthday!  My dear friend, Kayla, just enjoyed her 25th birthday and after I sent my text (urgh), I realized!  I have a card!  And so I dashed it off in the mail to her.  Kayla - look for it coming soon :)

Holiday Cards as Special as Your Family

Raise your hand if this is you:  You pick lovingly over photos to find just the right one that captures the essence of your family.... ahhhhh...... only to race down to the local purveyor of photo-type printings, slap it into one of the holly with berries or candy cane frame choices, choose one of the 3 choices for holiday greetings, hit the "order" button and call your Holiday card task complete?

It's ok.  Now, raise your hand if you then received exactly your same holiday card but with some other family (what the ???) on it before yours is even back from print.  And then you get another.  And another.  All the other families masquerading as yours on YOUR card.

Don't let that happen to you and your precious family memory!

Use Card Couture to design a card that fits your family, your memory, your picture.  You choose the colors.  You choose the design.  You choose exactly what you want to say.  You like slapping the picture into a pre-designed background and saying?  That's ok!  We're not here to judge.  You can still do that - but let us tailor it to the colorings of the photo and really show your family off to the world!!
